Back to Work

We are back to work with a vengeance this week. As I predicted, we now suddenly realise that we have only one week to Vienna and the Big Kahuna is not happy with our preparations. Refreshed by his week off, he projected a lot of energy and got everyone going strong.
The travel section, Annette and Deirdre, a formidable combination, are putting the final touches to the Vienna Campaign. We are now getting itineraries, programmes, lists in abundence. All very efficient and impressive. Looks like it will be a great trip
Above, by the way, is our Soprano section, well, part of it, at least. I finally managed to get some of them to stand still for a picture in a group. This was difficult as they are a notoriously shy and nervous bunch and are liable to spook at the slightest sound or sudden movement. I may have to resort to stalking methods to get the lot of them

Rehearsal in the Music Room

The Altos ( or some of them ) resting during the rehearsal to-night afterr giving their all in the Huron Carol. We had a very relaxed and enjoyable session with everyone doing their best and the Boss ( that's him in the background, talking to Annette) being very nice to us. A pleasant change. Even the Basses got away without the usual flogging. I must try and find out what he is on. We got thru a lot of work and sang many of the songs we will be doing in Vienna and here at Christmas.

Greetings to the overseas branch in the Canaries and best wishes for a speedy recovery to our Chairman who is hors de combat tonight. Posted by Picasa

Enniscorthy Choir

Mid Term Break

We are now back from our mid term break and ready and willing for more rehearsals. At some time soon someone is going to say in panic-stricken tones " We only have three weeks to Vienna!" and then all hell will break loose.
Some members went to hear the National Concert Hall Choir singing in Rowe St Church as part of the Wexford festival. They are a professional group who come together occasionally as a choir and are superb. We could pick up a few tips from them. I noticed that almost all of them had tuning forks which they used ostentatiously during the singing. Real Class ! I think we should all get tuning forks. It would be a brave adjudicator who would question our pitch if we were all waving tuning forks at him.
I also noticed that they seemed to have a male alto as part of their line-up. And why not ?
